Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment by adding new accessories. They can also increase the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.
Typically item upgrade with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, while objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, giving an added bonus or effect while the equipment is used. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved as loot by enemies, or obtained from missions and chests. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain level before they are upgraded.
To upgrade an item of armor, the user must select it, and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. The screen will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade stats as well as the components or materials required for the upgrade.
There are three types: universal upgrades (which include gems) prefix upgrades and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which include gems, are able to be used in any kind of equipment, and offer lower bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are only placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment are similar to jewels but have higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades, which can be placed in gathering tools, will add their name to the end of the name of the item they are attached to, for instance adding an Glyph to a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If a player upgrades a gathering tool and replaces glyphs with another glyph the previous one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, except for the inscriptions that can be swapped.
Leveling

The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from the previous versions. Gear is now categorised in tracks, and each item can only be upgraded as many times before it is "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials required do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a handful of important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading the upgrade costs across several pieces.
This allows the item to receive upgraded components and a higher chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Power and it will reset to zero on failure or increases when the upgrade is successful.
When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to gain affixes which will boost its attributes. The number of affixes available depends on the item's base type. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon with a base that is normal will have no more than two affixes to choose from, whereas legendary armors will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade process requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, based on the type of item at its current level and what slot it is placed in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item is not able to attain its maximum level the NPC will offer players the option to transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with a different set of upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours and will cost the same amount of material. However it has a lower chance of success.
To determine the height of a building engineers employ an instrument to compare the measurement against an established reference point such as a benchmark or the elevation of the ground. This method is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and the level before turning the level and making the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that structures are built to the highest level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential element of the game that can improve an item's damage, strength or other characteristics. You can do this via the menu for items or by pressing the Reroll button every time you upgrade an item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be done sparingly.
The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which can be used to earn Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator of level that indicates how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level that has been filled.
In the past, certain upgrade items had priority affixes which made them easier to roll for than other. This meant that you'd receive the most crucial stats to your build more often than others. This included stats such as the armor's total armour, thorns and control impaired duration reduced stats or the weapons' bonus attack speed and strike chance.
This changed with the recent patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for each stat. This can be good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may have a unique bonus that boosts the power of the item by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are offered into the standard affixes. The more you upgrade an item, the higher chances of obtaining an exclusive bonus.
The game also comes with several sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on a unit. This is an excellent method to add lots of power to a character without spending a lot of money.
Many players opt to reroll their equipment and weapons, especially in the early stages of the game. Rerolling is a way to gain a stronger character faster, which allows players to advance in the game and reach higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are groups of elements that can be put together in different ways. They could be of various sizes, have no elements, or only contain one element. They are useful for organizing data or separating information. They can also be useful in analysing patterns. Sets can be classified in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.
There are many set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading and others aren't. Armor sets with high defense or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. However, upgrades to weapons typically don't improve the stats of the item when in comparison to their purple counterparts. This makes them less attractive to upgrade if you have a lot of weapons or armor pieces already.
Set items can be upgraded to include special tools that are suitable for specific builds. Guillaume's Face face and Aldur's Advance boots are a good example of this. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them up to the same level with their levels. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels, from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items of the set can increase their defense and make them more competitive in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item as well as the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The attributes of the item will be displayed, along with any required items. For example the No-mouth face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
In general, weapons and armor have a higher trade value when they are fully updated. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related and are upgraded to gold is recommended because it will provide a significant increase in their power. This will also boost the defense value of armor that has a newer appearance.
